6 Good Google Alternative Search Engines
With the ongoing changes at Google such as the Panda Update and more so the evil Penguin Update which has left many small businesses in a tricky situation, many believe that Google is less than desirable to use these days as they are focusing far too much on big profits and not taking into account that most small businesses do not have millions of bucks to blow on Google Adwords for little return.
If you are unhappy with many changes Google has made then the only way they will improve and listen to us the ‘users’ is seek good search engine Alternatives, this will drop their share prices.
While some people would love to debate that Google still remains the best Search Engine to use it’s important to understand they are just like any other business, their goal is to make money. So while they claim to return the best favorable results to the end user it’s important to know that a lot of results are due to intense advertising campaigns via ad words and many other paid advertising, Google returns results based on quality and popularity not always the best results as many would believe.
Of course if your site is amazing then the chances are that you will be seen, but in competitive areas where sites have been established for years and you believe that your site offers better experience as well as better overall content then Google will take many factors into account and the chances are regardless if your site is AMAZING it will be hard for you to take their spot without some kind of campaign in advertising so that people link to your site.
Anyway, enough rant let’s talking about Good Alternatives to Google.
The Alternatives
Here is a list of Good Search Engine Alternatives to Google:
DuckDuckGo

This is a fairly new search engine which has gained noticed from big companies and sites such as Time Mag, PCMAG, About.com, Wired and even biased CNN.
One of DuckDuckGo’s top selling point is they do not track it’s users unlike Google and many others, their privacy policies are completely fair and what you would expect when using a search engine.
The design of this site is just awesome, it’s clean while maintains some color which is nice on the eyes and what’s more is that the search results itself are just fantastic. We at ByBe reward this search engine the number 1 position.
Bing

Well you all know who Bing is and well some people dislike Bing as they are Microsoft, but the fact remains their engine is pretty good. The returned search results are very good and their design looks and works great too. Not much we can say wrong about BING rather than some of their approaches over the years could have been more focused and more uptodate.
Blekko

This search engine is a great alternative to Google’s own but sadly it’s not very used by a lot of people, the results are based on Quality and not link popularity which is good and bad, New companies are unlikely to be seen on this engine for some time, take us for example we are nowhere to been seen, but hopefully were appear in good time!
Quintura

The search results from this Quintura are actually pretty decent they are comparable to that of Google and Bing but the major feature they pack is they have a TAG Cloud which people can hover over or click to refine their search. This is a GREAT! Alternative however they really need a different look it’s just too ugly to use.
Yippy

Yippy used to be known as Clusty which has renamed to Yippy for one reason or another, their engine is somewhat an in-between search engine compared to Google and Bing, they have many features seen in other search engines but with a different look and feel, their search results are pretty decent but the overall look of the site is pretty bad, the alignment of the pages are to the left so those with hefty big screens will be more affected by this, their previewing of websites uses a iframe which uses the standard browser scroll bars which are just plain and very ugly to use. One more thing is their Facebook like widget theirs ways of getting likes without having that displayed on every single page.
Gibiru

This is a search engine which claims to be completely anonymous as well as displaying uncensored results, sadly though the actual enquires is handled by using a modified Google algorithm but they insist the results are completely unique and not filtered in any way nor are they targeted unlike Google’s own algorithm.
Sadly they could be better if their site looked more appealing to use as well as used their own algorithms and not Google’s own, even though it’s modified Google haters will dislike this.
